Entrustment of Personal Information Processing
Entrustment of personal information processing refers to the delegation of certain tasks to specialized contractors to provide smooth services to "Members." Personal information is processed only within the scope entrusted under the responsibility of the "Company." 휴런, ‘AI로 파킨슨병 병소 영역 정량화’ AJNR 논문 게재

뇌신경 질환 전문 의료 인공지능(AI) 기업 ㈜휴런(대표 신동훈)이 최근 휴런의 파킨슨병 솔루션인 휴런IPD와 휴런NI를 활용해 파킨슨병의 병소로 알려진 나이그로좀1 영역 감별 및 자동 정량화에 대한 연구를 진행하고 국제 학술지 AJNR(American Journal of Neuroradiology)에 논문을 게재했다.
이번 연구는 세브란스병원 영상의학과 서배선 교수(공동1저자), 휴런 퇴행성뇌질환 연구팀 허환 연구원(공동1저자), 서울아산병원 영상의학과 서종현 교수(교신저자) 연구팀이 파킨슨병 환자와 대조군으로 구성된 237명의 MRI 데이터를 바탕으로 진행했다.
휴런IPD(Heuron IPD)는 MRI 기반의 파킨슨병 조기 진단 보조 AI 솔루션으로, 나이그로좀 영역을 자동으로 검출하고 시각화해 정상/비정상 결과를 제공한다. 휴런NI(Heuron NI)는 이를 보조해 나이그로좀 영역의 부피를 정량적으로 측정해 결과를 제공한다. 나이그로좀은 파킨슨병이 발병하고 도파민 신경세포가 손상될 경우 부피가 감소하기 때문에, 이를 측정하고 관찰하는 것이 파킨슨병 진단과 병의 진행 정도 파악을 위한 주요 근거가 된다.
기존에는 파킨슨병 진단을 위해서는 고가의 PET-CT 검사가 필수였다. 하지만 이러한 AI 솔루션을 이용할 경우 비교적 접근성과 경제성이 높고 환자 부담이 덜한 MRI만으로도 파킨슨병을 진단할 수 있다. 또 기존에는 숙련된 의사가 육안으로만 확인해야 했던 나이그로좀의 변화를 AI 솔루션을 이용해 더욱 객관적이고 정확하게 파악할 수 있게 됐다.
본 연구에 따르면 휴런IPD는 환자와 대조군을 구분하는 데 민감도 97%, 특이도 95.7%, 정확도 96.6%의 매우 높은 성능을 보였으며 휴런NI를 구분에 활용한 결과 또한 96.4%의 높은 민감도와 89.9%의 높은 정확도를 보였다.
연구팀은 또한 파킨슨병의 중증도를 평가는 지표인 H&Y 스코어(Hoehn and Yahr Scale)에 따라 대상자의 증상이 진행되면서 나이그로좀의 실제 부피가 감소하며 휴런 솔루션으로 이를 정량화해 확인할 수 있음을 밝혔다.
신동훈 휴런 대표는 “휴런IPD와 휴런NI는 다양한 국제학술지 논문을 통해 그 성능을 계속해서 인정받고 있는 휴런의 대표 솔루션”이라며 “국내의 저명한 교수들과 함께 진행한 이번 연구를 통해 휴런 솔루션의 성능을 다시 한번 입증했을 뿐 아니라 솔루션이 파킨슨병의 조기 진단 뿐 아니라 진행 정도 파악에도 실질적 도움이 된다는 점을 밝히게 돼 더욱 의미가 깊다”고 말했다.
한편 본 연구 ‘SMWI MRI를 통한 딥러닝 기반 나이그로좀1 영역 자동 정량화 및 파킨슨증 분류 연구(Deep learning-based algorithm for automatic quantification of nigrosome-1 and Parkinsonism classification using susceptibility map-weighted MRI)’는 미국 신경두경부영상의학회 학술지(American Journal of Neuroradiology) 최근호에 게재됐다.
