Entrustment of Personal Information Processing
Entrustment of personal information processing refers to the delegation of certain tasks to specialized contractors to provide smooth services to "Members." Personal information is processed only within the scope entrusted under the responsibility of the "Company." The "Company" carefully reviews whether the entrusted contractors have sufficient capabilities to protect "Members'" personal information.

인공지능(AI) 기술을 기반으로 의료영상 자료를 판독 및 진단하는 '휴런(구 비엔지헬스)'이 국내 9개 대학병원과 손잡고 파킨슨병 진단 소프트웨어 임상시험을 추진한다. 이를 위해 내년 상반기를 목표로 100억원 규모의 시리즈 B 투자유치에 나선다. 글로벌 임상을 비롯해 치매, 뇌졸중 등 국내 임상을 진행하기 위한 자금을 조달을 위해서다.
5일 업계에 따르면 AI진단기업 '휴런'은 현재 국내 9개 대학병원과 손잡고 파킨슨병 진단 소프트웨어 임상시험을 위한 공동 연구를 진행하고 있다. 이는 국내 인공지능(AI) 단일기업으로는 최대 규모다. 이를 위해 내년 상반기를 목표로 100억원 규모의 시리즈B 투자유치도 추진한다. 현재 진행하고 있는 파킨슨병 진단 소프트웨어 임상을 비롯한 글로벌 임상과 뇌졸중, 치매 등 국내 임상 추진을 위한 자금을 마련하기 위해서다.
앞서 휴런은 지난 7월 메가인베스트먼트와 스마일게이트인베스트먼트, 아주IB투자로부터 총 30억원의 자금을 조달했다. 휴런은 파킨슨병 여부 진단을 시작으로 향후 뇌졸중, 치매 등 추가 진단영역으로 확장해 의료영상기반 AI 기업으로 도약하는 것을 목표로 한다.
신명진 휴런 최고재무책임자(CFO)는 "국내 인공지능 단일기업 중 최대 규모인 9개 대학병원에서 파킨슨병 진단소프트웨어 임상시험을 추진하고 있다"라며 "내년 상반기에는 국내외 임상 및 파킨슨 진단 소프트웨어의 미국 FDA 인증절차 등을 추진하기 위해 100억원 규모의 투자유치에도 나설 계획"이라고 말했다.
휴런은 2017년 가천대길병원 신동훈 교수(대표이사)를 주축으로 신경과, 영상의학과, 의공학과 교수진과 가천대 의료기기센터의 인공지능 박사 연구진들이 공동설립한 벤처기업이다. 기존 인공지능 진단기업과 달리 현직 대학병원 교수진이 직접 설립하며 업계의 주목을 받았다. 지난 7월에는 회사명을 비엔지헬스에서 휴런으로 변경했다.
그간 AI 진단시장은 AI 기술의 상향평준화와 더불어 다수의 제품이 나오고 있지만, 임상 현장의 수요와 괴리가 커서 의료계 호평을 받지 못하고 있었다. 객관성이나 정밀성을 확보하는데 한계가 있었기 때문이다.
이에 휴런은 현재 파키슨 선도 그룹인 대한이상운동질환학회와 협업하며 국내 9개 대학병원과 파킨슨병 진단 소프트웨어 공동 임상연구를 진행하고 있다. 특히 휴런은 단순히 의료 영상을 AI에 학습시키는 것을 넘어 실제 임상의(MD)들이 판단하는 로직과 생각의 흐름을 그대로 학습시키고 있다. 임상의가 개발과정에 적극 참여해 진단의 의식화 과정을 AI로 구현하고 잇는 점이 특징이다.
따라서 단순히 많은 양의 데이터를 모델링하는 기존의 방식보다 높은 정확도, 민감도, 특이도 등을 구현하고 있다. 또한 단순한 병의 유무 진단 뿐만 아니라, 조기 예측 및 정량화가 가능한 바이오마커 개발플랫폼을 구축했다는 점도 강점으로 꼽힌다.
휴런은 내년 상반기를 목표로 파킨슨 진단 소프트웨어(mPDia)와 뇌신경질환 플랫폼 소프트웨어의 미국 FDA 인증과 유럽CE 인증 절차를 추진 중이다. 뇌신경질환은 글로벌 메이저 헬스케어 업체들도 높은 수준의 데이터 확보와 개발에 난항을 겪고 있는 분야다. 지난 7월에는 글로벌 헬스케어 업체로부터 뇌졸중 관련 제의를 간접적으로 받으며 기술경쟁력을 인정받았다.
