Entrustment of Personal Information Processing
Entrustment of personal information processing refers to the delegation of certain tasks to specialized contractors to provide smooth services to "Members." Personal information is processed only within the scope entrusted under the responsibility of the "Company." The "Company" carefully reviews whether the entrusted contractors have sufficient capabilities to protect "Members'" personal information.

(2023년 6월 27일) 의료 인공지능(AI) 솔루션 기업 휴런(대표 신동훈)은 퇴행성 뇌질환 진단에 사용되는 양전자 방출 단층촬영(PET, Positron Emission Tomography) 정량분석 AI 솔루션 Heuron Brain PET이 SCIE급 국제학술지 Scientific Reports에 게재되었다고 밝혔다.
뇌 PET 검사는 핵의학 검사 방법 중 하나로 알츠하이머 치매 등 퇴행성 뇌질환의 바이오마커인 아밀로이드, 타우, 포도당, 도파민의 변화를 세밀하게 확인할 수 있다. 이러한 변화를 확인하기 위해서는 각 바이오마커에 해당되는 ‘추적자’(PET tracer)를 이용한다. 뇌 PET 영상은 주로 육안으로 판독하나 숙련도에 따라 판독 결과가 달라질 수 있고, 육안 판독이 애매한 경우가 발생할 수 있다는 단점이 있다. 이를 보완하기 위해, 정량적인 방법으로 의료진의 판독을 보조할 수 있는 솔루션에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다.
Heuron Brain PET은 AI를 활용하여 뇌의 기능적인 변화를 볼 수 있는 PET과 뇌의 해부학적 상태를 나타내는 자기공명영상(MRI)를 융합한 솔루션이다. 뇌 영역을 105곳으로 세분화여 각 영역의 PET tracer에 대한 표준섭취계수율(Standardized Uptake Value Ratio, SUVR) 및 부피 값을 자동 정량화하여 제공한다.
휴런과 아주대학교병원 핵의학과 안영실 교수와의 협업으로 이루어진 이번 연구는 알츠하이머 치매 여부를 평가하는데 주요한 역할을 하는 아밀로이드 PET tracer인 F-18 flutemetamol(FMM) 뇌 PET을 시행한 408명의 환자의 데이터를 활용하여, 핵의학에서 널리 사용되는 정량화 제품 PMOD와 Heuron Brain PET의 정량화 값을 비교하였다.
연구 결과, 뇌 PET에서 아밀로이드 침착을 평가하는 데 있어 두 제품의 성능은 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없음을 보였다. Heuron Brain PET은 아밀로이드 침착의 유무를 진단하는 데 있어 민감도 96.69%, 특이도 95.55%로 좋은 진단성능을 나타내었다. 더불어, PMOD의 경우 분석시간이 약 10분내외 소요되는 반면, Heuron Brain PET은 3~5분으로 두배 이상 더 빠르게 분석 가능하였다. 이러한 결과는 Heuron Brain PET이 보다 편리하게 PET의 정량화된 값을 제공하여 판독의의 숙련도에 따른 결과의 차이를 최소화할 수 있고, 신속하고 정확한 판독을 위해 신뢰할 수 있는 솔루션으로 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다.
해당 연구를 주도한 아주대병원 안영실 교수는 “이번 연구를 통해 뇌 PET에서 아밀로이드 침착 정도를 정량화하는데 있어 Heuron Brain PET과 기존의 상용화 제품인 PMOD는 상호 대체 가능함을 밝히게 되었다”며 “뿐만 아니라, 임상적 이용으로 승인된 Heuron Brain PET은 연구용 프로그램인 PMOD에 비해 사용자가 이용하기 편리한 기능과 옵션들을 제공하기 때문에 임상에서 보다 편리하게 사용할 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다.
