휴런, ‘Heuron StroCare Suite’ 혁신 의료기술 지정

뇌신경 질환 전문 의료 인공지능(AI) 기업 ㈜휴런(대표 신동훈)은 비조영 CT 영상을 활용한 인공지능기반 응급 뇌졸중 선별 솔루션인 ‘Heuron StroCare Suite’가 보건복지부 혁신의료기기 통합심사 평가 고시를 통해 혁신의료기술로 지정 받았다고 11일 밝혔다.
8일 발표된 복지부 신의료기술 안전성∙유효성 평가결과 고시에 따르면, 휴런 스트로케어 스위트는 2024년 6월 1일부터 2026년 5월 31일까지 2년간 안전성·잠재성이 있는 혁신의료기술로 임상 현장에 사용될 수 있다. 혁신의료기술은 복지부와 한국보건의료연구원(NECA)이 미래 유망 기술의 활용을 촉진하기 위해 마련한 제도다. 혁신의료기술의 안전성과 유효성 등 잠재적 가치를 입증한 경우, 의료시장에 임시로 진입시켜 검증 후 정식 등재하는 방식이다.
휴런 스트로케어 스위트는 비조영 CT만으로 응급 뇌 대혈관 폐색 여부를 분석하는 AI 솔루션으로 응급실에 내원한 급성 뇌졸중환자의 뇌 CT 영상을 자동 분석해 대혈관폐색 의심 환자를 선별하고 우선 판독을 위한 의료진 알람 서비스를 제공한다. 응급 뇌 대혈관 폐색 환자의 우선 순위 분류를 통해 치료 개시 시간을 단축시켜 골든타임 내 환자를 빠르게 치료하는 데 도움이 돼 뇌졸중 환자 예후 개선을 기대할 수 있다.
휴런은 이번 스트로케어 스위트의 신의료기술평가를 통해 보험(임시)수가를 적용 받아 향후 2년간 비급여를 통한 공급이 가능해졌다.
신동훈 휴런 대표는 “휴런 스트로케어 스위트의 혁신의료기술 지정으로 응급 뇌졸중 환자의 신속한진단과 치료 결과와 직결되는 시간 단축 등 급성 뇌졸중 환자 초동 대처에 큰 역할을 할 수 있다는 것을 인정받았다”며 "비급여 공급을 통한 수익화 및 뇌졸중 응급 의료 체계 개선에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
한편 휴런은 혁신의료기술의 탄탄한 임상 근거 확보를 위해 최근 순천향대학교 부천병원 영상의학과 이아름 교수(최고의학책임자,Chief Medical Officer), 경기도의료원 이천병원 응급의학과 허재홍 과장(Medical Director) 등을 영입해 사내 Medical Affairs팀(의학부문)을 출범했다.
휴런은 뇌졸중과 관련된 유관 임상과 전문의 영입을 통해 혁신의료기술의 임상 근거를 마련하고, 2년 후 신의료기술평가 재평가를 거쳐 정식 건강보험 등재를 추진할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
